AUDITION INFORMATION AND AGREEMENT FOR RED CURTAIN THEATRE'S PRODUCTION OF THE MUSIC MAN
NOTE: We are excited to have you join us for auditions for our upcoming production of The Music Man. Before you begin, please take a moment to read our Audition Information and Agreement. Once you submit your agreement, you can continue through the sign up process. Please note that all roles will be cast by audition only. Auditionees must be at least 8 years old.
AUDITION PREPARATION: You will choose from several music selections provided via email within 48 hours of scheduling an audition. Please bring your sheet music clearly marked. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella auditions will be seen. You may be asked to do a cold reading during your audition. You will also be taken in groups into the dance studio to learn a short dance sequence with our choreographer. You can expect the audition process to last approximately 30 minutes or so.
AUDITIONS: Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 29, at Red Curtain Theatre in Downtown Conway (913 W Oak Street). Call backs will be held Sunday, April 30. Please be aware that not all who audition are guaranteed a part. You will schedule an audition appointment as part of this sign up process.
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will begin Monday, June 12 and will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 6-9pm. Not all performers will be called to all rehearsals. A tentative rehearsal schedule will be sent out prior to the read through but may be subject to change. There will be no rehearsal on Tuesday, July 4. There will be additional rehearsals the week leading up to performances.
PERFORMANCES: Performances are scheduled August 4-6 and 11-13 at Staples Auditorium on the Hendrix College campus in Conway, AR.
COSTUMES: Each cast member will be responsible for assisting with their own costume for this production. They will work closely with our crew to accomplish this.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance at rehearsals is extremely important when preparing for such a large production and we encourage each cast member to be at every rehearsal they are called to if possible. We ask that all known conflicts are communicated during audition signups. An excessive amount of missed rehearsals, as determined by the director, will be cause for removal from the production. Exceptions to this rule due to extenuating circumstances are at the discretion of the director.
ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOR POLICY: Red Curtain Theatre's mission is to provide an atmosphere that nurtures and inspires actors of all ages by offering performance opportunities through community theatre, youth workshops, private instruction, and dance. Negative attitudes and/or behavior will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to the use of foul language, disrespect toward the director, crew, volunteers and/or cast members, bullying, teasing and unwillingness to participate. The director has the option to remove any cast member from the production due to poor attitude and/or behavior as determined by the director. If there is a situation where behavior and/or attitude is determined to be a problem, this will be addressed within 24 hours after rehearsal. If the situation does not improve by the following rehearsal, the cast member will not be allowed back.
