In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named "Rocky."

AUDITION INFORMATION FOR RED CURTAIN THEATRE'S PRODUCTION OF THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW

AUDITION INFORMATION FOR RED CURTAIN THEATRE'S PRODUCTION OF THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW
PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD TO AUDITION.
SEEKING A DIVERSIFIED CAST FOR THE FOLLOWING ROLES, ALL ROLES ARE AVAILABLE:
- NARRATOR: male or female, 18+, mostly non-singing, guides us through the show in a dry, British-humor-inspired manner, a unique speaking voice is required, must have a strong presence.
- DR. FRANK 'N' FURTER: male, 30-50, baritone/tenor, a cross-dressing mad scientist/ transvestite from the planet Transsexual in the galaxy of Transylvania, brilliant comic timing and charismatic.
- BRAD MAJORS:: 20-30, tenor, high G, a handsome and wholesome young man, must be able to play stilted innocence and as well as some fragility.
- JANET WEISS: female, 20-30, mezzo with belt, occasional high F, a youthful, pretty and wholesome young woman, she coy and shy at first then becomes sexy and outlandish.
- RIFF RAFF: male, 20-50, strong rock tenor, high B, an eccentric butler of Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter, must be able to sufficiently “scream” the “time warp.”
- MAGENTA: female, 20-40, husky rock mezzo/alto, low B to high E flat, a very strange servant of Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter, possibly has Eastern-European accent, an exotic beauty, she exudes sex, also appears as “Trixie - The Usherette” and sings “Science Fiction Double Feature.”
- ROCKY HORROR: male, 20-30, rock baritone/tenor, high A, the result of one of the Frank’s experiments, he is muscular, tan and epitomizes the image of “the perfect man."
- COLUMBIA: female, 20-30, mezzo/high tenor, strong belt, one of Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter’s groupies, strong character actor, cute and bubbly with a rough, rocker side.
- EDDIE/DR. EVERETT SCOTT: male, 20-45, rock tenor, high F#, a freeze-dried delivery guy who rocks, a rumpled scientist, high school tutor of Brad and Janet, in a wheelchair, strong character actor with amazing comedic timing, any physical type, German accent.
- TRANSYLVANIANS, PHANTOMS.: males and females, 18+, they appear for rocking back-ups and dance sequences, singers/actors of various body types and all vocal ranges, but must be able to dance, these characters are involved in audience interaction.
AUDITION PREPARATION: Please prepare 32 bars of a song from the show or in the style of the show. Your piece should be memorized. Please bring your sheet music with you, an accompanist will be provided. We may ask you to do a cold reading during your audition. You will also be asked to learn a short dance sequence with our choreographer.
AUDITIONS: Auditions will be held on Saturday, July 15 at Red Curtain Theatre in Downtown Conway (913 W Oak Street). Please be aware that not all who audition are guaranteed a role. If you unable to attend auditions on July 15, please contact us at [email protected] for details regarding video submission. You will schedule an audition appointment as part of this sign up process.
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will begin on or after September 1. A rehearsal schedule will be determined after auditions, based on cast availability. There will likely be Saturday and/or Sunday afternoon rehearsals. There will be full dress/tech rehearsals the week of October 23. Not every cast member will need to attend every full rehearsal. A tentative rehearsal schedule will be given to the cast prior to the first rehearsal, but may be subject to change. Rehearsals will be held at Red Curtain Theatre.
PERFORMANCES: Performances will be held October 26-28 and November 3-5 at Red Curtain Theatre.
COSTUMES: Each cast member will be responsible for providing their own costume for this production. They will work closely with the director and a costumer to accomplish this.
TICKETS: Tickets for performances will be available for purchase beginning October 1. Tickets may be purchased online, by phone, or at the door.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance at rehearsals is extremely important when preparing for such a large production and we encourage each cast member to be at every rehearsal they are called to if possible. We ask that all known conflicts are communicated during audition signups. Attendance at all rehearsals October 23 through performances is required. Not every cast member will be required to attend every full rehearsal. A rehearsal schedule will be given to the cast prior to the first rehearsal. An excessive amount of missed rehearsals, as determined by the director, will be cause for removal from the production. Exceptions to this rule due to extenuating circumstances are at the discretion of the director.
ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOR POLICY: Red Curtain Theatre's mission is to provide an atmosphere that nurtures and inspires actors of all ages by offering performance opportunities through community theatre and workshops. Negative attitudes and/or behavior will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to the use of foul language, disrespect toward the director, crew, volunteers and/or cast members, bullying, teasing and unwillingness to participate. The director has the option to remove any cast member from the production due to poor attitude and/or behavior as determined by the director. If there is a situation where behavior and/or attitude is determined to be a problem, this will be addressed within 24 hours after rehearsal. If the situation does not improve by the following rehearsal, the cast member will not be allowed back.
